After watching “The Secret” over and over again, I am beginning to wonder why I am getting the feeling that something is missing. Of course I did all the things that were expected of me, and yet I still had a feeling deep down inside that something was amiss. Putting this down to my possible resistance to the prosperity that was soon to come my way, I batted on regardless. Nevertheless, I could not shake off the growing thought that things were not quite as easy as they were being portrayed in the DVD. Then I found a site which said that during the interviews with the people in the film, information that we would need to give us the complete picture of how we could manifest our desires was being left out. The smoke and mirrors seemed to increase the more I read, but from which side?, that was the all important question.

Does “The Secret” really work?, or is it just another way to pander to the “get rich quick” mentality which seems to prevail in our society today?. Something somewhere doesn’t seem to be adding up, and the expectation that we can all be millionaires and successful at anything we do needs to be weighed with a certain amount of discrimination. All “The Secret” appears to be doing is creating more frustration and a feeling that maybe we are not quite good enough to manifest like the people in the film say they can if nothing happens after a few months. Am I and most of the people I know alone in feeling this?.

As spiritual beings I believe that abundance is our birthright, then how come almost all the spiritual people I know are having a hard time of it?. I don’t believe we are here to suffer either, the only thing it is good for is to teach us how best to avoid it in future, re: a different mental attitude next time, which coincidentally is how the Law of Attraction works as portrayed in “The Secret“. I’ve also tried to look at this in a different way. Are there other factors involved which could influence the outcome of any attempt to attract things to us?. I have an astrologer friend who says that while Saturn or Pluto or whatever is in a certain sign, then forget the good times for a while and just dig in. Another friend who’s an economist says before long the money we have will not be worth the paper it is printed on, the run on Northern Rock being just the thin end of the wedge. Do these things impact on our subconscious mind and stop us from living with abundance?, maybe they do to a certain degree.

Don’t get me wrong, I have no problem per se with using the Law of Attraction, I truly believe in the effectiveness with which it can work in our lives. What I have a problem with is it being portrayed as the only law we need to be happy, to the detriment of all the others. We all came here to live our lives and remember who and what we really are, spiritual beings on a journey of self discovery. Being rich and successful by themselves is not the remit of a spiritual person, it’s not how we can tell who is spiritual and who isn’t, nor should it be the driving force in our searching for our truth. Be the best person you can possibly be, but not at any cost. Listen to your intuition at all times when asking for the things you want or desire, and be prepared to adjust your expectations if they are making you feel uncomfortable or frustrated.

ln her book “A little light on the Spiritual Laws”, Diana Cooper tells the story of a friend of hers called Kevin who went to Sai Baba’s ashram to ask for a blessing on the next step of his life as he saw it. Kevin wrote out a note and placed it in front of him as Sai Baba walked past. His note was ignored. After a meditation he wrote another note slightly different to the first, which was also ignored. During another meditation, Kevin received a flash of illumination which allowed him to see things from a different perspective. His third letter was written with this in mind and came from the Heart instead of from the Ego. This letter was duly taken, and allowed Kevin to move forward with his life.

ls “The Secret” really the secret to all our needs and wants and problems?, Like Kevin, we can ask for anything we want and present it to the Universe for approval, but to my way of thinking it is in the way we ask ( not how we receive, as portrayed by “step 3″ in “The Secret” ) which will determine whether we receive or not. The all important preparation work comes before we ask, not before we receive, and if our list is in attunement with our Soul’s purpose and desire, then the Loving Universe will move “Heaven and Earth” to bring it to us.

l have always had a facination for the moon. As a teenager l remember standing in our back garden at dusk and looking to see the smallest possible crescent appear after the new moon. Even then it had a magical appearance, especially when the planet Venus was in attendance. The first two or three days after New Moon is my favourite time in the moon’s phase. The beauty of a thin crescent moon against a slowly darkening, clear blue sky never fails to stir me, and seems to transport me back to a time almost beyond time, to a magical half forgotten place that rests on the edge of memory. l love looking at the moon in all it’s phases, but no other phase affects me quite like this one. As a magical moment, it has to be one of my all time favourites.

The world as we know it is changing, and the old parameters that stood for so long are now beginning to break down and shatter into six billion pieces. Each piece holds the key to a new world within each one, and the lock is the same for all. There is one doorway to freedom which when opened, will enable each and every one of us to discover our true heritage as parts of a whole, all connected together on a journey of self discovery going back to a place we never really left, our divinity.

Self discovery means going within and starts with the realisation that we are all responsible for our own lives. However much that? life may seem to be controlled by others it is only an illusion to keep us unaware of our own potential. We all have the capability to break free from the shackles that appear to bind us, because they exist only in our minds. Real freedom begins as a thought and grows into a world free of chains where everyone is a part of the same team. Lets work together to be the best we can possibly be, and create a world where we travel the road to freedom as one people with one destination.

Hill Of BeansWhat do we really know about the spirit world that’s worth more than a hill of beans, and come to think of it, what exactly is a hill of beans worth? “Well now,” I hear you say “wouldn’t that depend on how big the hill was, and which type of beans you used”.? You are right of course, there are variables to consider, yet it can be quantified, which, according to all the experts is more than can be said for the world of spirit.? Or can it?

Someone once weighed a person just before, and then directly after their death, and found they were lighter by a few grams upon passing away.? Could this really have been the spirit as it left the body, or was some other factor involved, such as an exhalation of air for instance.? The debate if there is one will continue, and yet I am reminded that just about every religious and spiritual group around the world speaks of us having a soul or a spirit, and the goal is to attain some form of enlightenment, or to transcend this world of matter and take the form of spirit or light, either in this world or the next.

You can ask any physicist worth their salt and they will tell you that light has a mass and it can be weighed.? Does this mean that if we attain a spirit body made of light we will also have a mass however small,?and hence still be governed by either these or some other “physical” laws in the spirit world, for where there is mass is there not also matter, and does this also account for the phrase “as above, so below” that is often mentioned in spiritual circles?

We all know that “solid” matter isn’t really solid, but consists of atoms and molecules vibrating at a certain frequency.? If we could vibrate at the same rate as a wall for example, we would pass through it as though it wasn’t there.? Scientists are now realising that when you get beyond even the realm of the atoms there is just pure energy, a kind of matrix that binds everything together.? This energy could be the building blocks from which all that we see around us was created, and it could also be the barrier that separates this world from the next.

All esoteric traditions believe the spirit world to consist of various levels which get progressively finer in vibration until the Divine Spirit, or God is reached.? These levels have barriers which stop free flow in the direction of a coarser vibration to the next finer one, or in moving towards God, yet seems to allow movement the other way, towards us, which is possibly why we see ghosts or spirit entities, and could explain the belief in spirit “guides” and guardian angels.? So it would seem that if this is the case, then the spirit world also has certain laws in place which regulate the flow of energy, or the passing of a coarser vibration into a finer one, which would imply the presence of a mass, albeit one too small for our instruments to measure
.
We could also ask if God is bound by any rules: does this divine energy have levels beyond itself which culminate in a being which it also calls God or Creator (as above so below) and ad-infinitum.? Are we the creations of a being that is also the creation of something else, a part of something that is bigger than even God can imagine?? Scientists thought that when they discovered the atom that that was the final frontier, and nothing could possibly be beyond.? When we eventually become one with God, or enlightened, is that the end product or is it just the beginning of our next phase of development beyond into only that which God knows?? Is it possible that this creation and creator could be just one bean in a hill of beans?
